So what about District Made Music?

So what's up with District Made Music?   As a resident of the District of Columbia and a professional in the entertainment industry I have a few ideas.  However before we get started let's look at what is DMM. So a glance over at Wikipedia yields a treasure of information which you should review if you didn't already know it.



  • Best cities to live in for live music Well DC doesn't get to #1 on the Twenty Something list because our music scene sucks THE 20 BEST CITIES FOR 20-SOMETHINGS

  • While the number of labels is not know however here's a selective list from Washington City Paper
  • How about recording studios entering my zip into Tumbtacks  We’ve got 68+ audio recording studios near Washington
  • To say that DC has recording artists is a bit of a understatement. And like many things the total number know is elusive we do know that we have one of the best Grammy Recording Academy chapters (been a member since 2001) and every singe arts society has a chapter or office here. 
  • And the last thing for now fans,  Well just look at the first bullet point and then think of the number of visitors that come to DC for tourism. If the need to have some entertainment available for 15 million annual visitors in not making bells ring then check your receiver
